one born every minute? this evening.

It is filmed where I had Bernice, they showed Neo Nates where little Bernice lived for a couple of wks in her incubator.

Oh I have had a cry! those sounds of Bleeping sounds in the neo natal dept. I used to see Bernice there and just stare, hold her and gaze at her. I was so ill but she was !oh! so worth it

silly woman! crying again!

It was such an awful time of terror and wonder and raw RAW life.

but so wonderful the day she came home- babies are SUCH miracles.

having to avoid it for now. which hospital is it Jenni?
saw first episode, went into personal tailspin about 'not allowed' to have anymore, never having that intensity of feeling, ever again, corners turned because of RA etc etc etc
know what you mean about the beeping etc, both boys were in for jaundice after their births.
the second one looked a complete freak to be honest, as he was the size of the average 3 month old.
mind you even my 1st boy at 6lb13 was startling large looking in that nicu context.

Yes I saw the programme and have watched all since they started. It brings back so many memories about when I had my Daughter but I do still sit there with my legs crossedBlink

Is it me or do some of the Dad's seem incredibly insensitve and clueless about how painful it is? The first week one Dad thought it was so funny blowing up rubber gloves whilst his Wife was in agony. Last night one Dad said "Well it's your fault your in this situation (she was trying to have a natural birth after failing with her first baby). You should have gone for the C-Section. You must have a low pain threshold". I was so angry on their behalf and wonder how they felt when they watched it back and how their work colleagues (especially the women) reacted when they entered the workplace the following morning.

My admiration also goes out to the Midwives. Overworked and underpaid does not even touch the sides.

Having spent weeks at a time after the births of each of my four babies .................all "special care tiddlers" (one at 6lb, one at 4lb2oz, one just 2lb11oz and one at 4lb 3oz)..... I thought how much the units have changed, (very open and fresh-looking) but the memories of those bleeps and buzzy things remains strong to this day!
But ooooh, those stupid thoughtless, unhelpfull fellows, now they WOULD have made me really angry then.................and still do now!!
Always be aware that what you do might hurt others........and if it could, do nothing without careful consideration of the consequences

For me it brings back memories of when I worked on a neonatal unit for 10 years.
I loved the work and it was so rewarding to see such preterm babies grow and eventually go home. I live near some twins who were born at 28 weeks 27 years ago and these two strapping lads bear absolutely no resemblance to the two little scraps I looked after!
Of course my RA put an end to all that !

in the 70s a little boy was born at 6 months and surived his sister was 9 months old .
mum had pnd and i used to babysit this little srap of a little boy he just sat in my hand he wore his sisters dolls clothes .She had him by a suprise birth he just poped out one day when she was shopping .

How on earth he ever came home at a month old and so small i think 1 pound something he was born at .
He got givin something to build his bones and was very big at 9 months something you driped into his bottle .

How i put terries on his bum don,t ask and they fitted .I offton had him and his sister i was about 19/20 was quite good at looking after them .

how anyone could trust me with such a tiny baby and a baby sister don,t ask .And go out !!!!!
the little boy was called steven .
